Bennett comes from a family of prize-winning potters from the Pueblo of Acoma but she chose to make jewelry.
Born in Albuquerque, NM in the early 50s, she lived her early years on the Acoma reservation.  She has lived and
worked mostly in Arizona., w
hile maintaining a strong connection to her family at Acoma Pueblo.

After obtaining her BA and MA in education from the University of Arizona in the early 70s, Donna taught in the Tucson Unified School District for 27 years.   During those years, she always looked forward to those summer months when she could make her unique earrings.  Then she and her family would dash off to enter them for judging at the Santa Fe Indian Market in August.  Many times her efforts would pay off  by winning a blue ribbon in that category.

Donna's inspiration comes from the amazing colors and uniqueness of the endless variety of natural stones this earth has to offer.
Now retired from teaching, she and her husband share a workshop in their Tucson home where she designs, solders and polishes  all of her own work making unique pieces of jewelry.
